At some point, many clients/donors begin feeling like an ‘ATM’ for the organizations they support, or even a fee generator for their professional advisors. Over time that can lead to a loss of the passion they had for the organization, and it can diminish or dissolve the connection they had with their advisor.It does not have to be that way. The fact is that our clients/donors are seeking (and some are demanding) alignment with both their advisors and the organizations they support. They want to be heard, to be understood, and to understand how what you are doing directly relates to what they are saying. In this session you will learn how to engage your client / donor in a 7-step conversation that will make it possible for them to tell you what it is that they really want, and what the value would be to them to achieve those things. In addition, this conversation provides you not only with the opportunity–but also with an invitation– to describe what you do in the context of helping them to achieve what it is that they have just told you matters most in their life. Facilitating this level of conversation will distinguish you and your organization from their other advisors and other organizations they support. For non-profit organizations, this conversation will provide existing donors, volunteers and supporters an experience that allows them to further internalize and value their connection and involvement in your organization.
