AiP Member Profile
The typical AiP member is an entrepreneur-minded professional advisor with a deep passion and commitment to collaborate with like-minded professionals from all over the world. They have been in business for at least 15 years, and have a strong desire to build and/or improve upon the deliverables they are currently offering clients, particularly in the area of Philanthropic Planning. The AiP member is charitable themselves, active in non-profit organizations in their own community, and is very generous with their time, talents, and treasures. They have already received years of specialized training in tax, legal, financial, fiduciary, or non-profit leadership and is eager to expand their influence outside of their designated "specialty” by building collaborative relationships with experts in related fields throughout North America. The AiP member is a Life Long Learner, always seeking additional wisdom and knowledge to bring increased value to their client relationships. They are constantly searching for opportunities to expand their expertise as a Philanthropic Advisor, yet give back at the same time by offering their technical knowledge and client relationship skills back to the membership through webinars and other training programs. The AiP member is known for their integrity & professionalism, and is in complete compliance with the Code of Ethics required of them in their specific industry.
Our name reflects our global vision of serving professional advisors. Inspiring them, educating them, and helping them to integrate philanthropy into their practices. They in turn inspire and empower their clients to use their resources to transform communities around the world.
What makes Advisors in Philanthropy different from other not-for-profit associations?
AiP is not affiliated with any for-profit company nor is AiP part of a
charitable agency or foundation. Independence is AiP's strongest
asset. It allows AiP to work and act independently for the good of the members who are, on the most part, independent in their own right. AiP is made up of client focused philanthropic professionals who wish to give
independent unbiased advice to donors and clients that will enable them
to connect their money to their meaning and transform their own
communities through inspired giving.
AiP is passionate about the life-changing power of philanthropy and its vital role in our world today. Transforming communities through inspired giving, defines our purpose.
In Consensus, July 4, 2005,
The Declaration of the
International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy
In recognition of a global perspective, we acknowledge every human's uniqueness as being a form of wealth and that our survival, growth and long term achievement hinges on interdependence. As each of us contributes energy, effort and riches, the prosperity of all is compounded. Even the least among us can participate in what our predecessors called a "social contract”. Weaving together the unique contributions of diverse societies, we will create a world fabric that emulates the best of what it means to be human.
We promote & encourage:
an environment that honors the aspirations of all human beings
the responsible and compassionate use of wealth through philanthropic giving
ethical and professional conduct through collaboration, teamwork & consensus
advisors educating & motivating donors to achieve clarity of their philanthropic vision
answering the questions "How much is enough?” and "Wealth for what purpose?”
donors & advisors to leave the world better than they found it
Using these guiding principles, we envision a world in which (millions of) families connect their wealth to their meaning and transform communities through inspired giving.
